As the wind industry grows, so does the need for specialized safety training.

STL USA is proud to launch a new course designed to elevate safety standards for wind technicians working at height: Lifeline Training – Self and Assisted Rescue Solution using the SOLO X with X RESQ Lifeline Series.

Why Lifeline Training Matters

Working hundreds of feet above the ground is part of the job for wind turbine technicians. While fall protection systems have evolved significantly, the reality remains: every second counts in a fall event. Whether a technician must rescue themselves or assist a teammate, the ability to deploy and operate a lifeline system efficiently can mean the difference between a close call and a catastrophe.

That’s where STL’s new training course comes in.

Course Overview

This one-day intensive course is designed for technicians who already hold valid GWO Working at Height and GWO Advanced Rescue Training (ART) certifications. The training introduces the SOLO X + X RESQ Lifeline Series—a robust rescue solution offering both self-rescue and assisted rescue capabilities from height.

What You’ll Learn:
  • Introduction and deployment of the SOLO X with X RESQ Lifeline Kit

  • Hazard identification and proper setup of secondary lifelines

  • Self-rescue techniques using vertical fall arrest systems

  • Assisted rescue methods using RPX or SOLO X devices

  • Equipment inspection and compatibility (ropes, slings, connectors, fall arresters, absorbers, and pulleys)

Technicians will learn how to properly calculate rope lengths based on hub height and install systems using anchor points rated for 5,000 pounds per person. The training also covers use of sewn-eye terminations, edge protection, and gear selection for real-world conditions.

Key Benefits

  • Hands-on Experience: Realistic scenarios and ropework simulations prepare techs for field applications.

  • Flexibility: The X RESQ Lifeline Kit is available in multiple lengths and can be tailored to various turbine platforms.

  • Efficiency: Systems like the RPX can enable rescue of two workers simultaneously—critical during emergency response.

  • Confidence: Technicians leave with the skills to act quickly and independently in high-stress rescue situations.

Final Thoughts

Wind turbine technicians face some of the most dangerous conditions in the energy sector. STL USA’s new Lifeline Training ensures they’re equipped with the tools, knowledge, and muscle memory needed to respond when it matters most.

Whether you’re a technician looking to upskill, or a safety manager seeking to bolster your team’s capabilities, this training is a must-have for 2025.

Enroll today to be at the forefront of wind safety innovation.
