STL USA is thrilled to announce that—for the second year running—they have been shortlisted as a finalist for the prestigious GWO Training Team of the Year Award – North America at the GWO Safety & Training Awards Ceremony. Selected among just three finalists from North America, STL USA continues to set industry benchmarks for excellence in GWO training delivery.
The GWO Safety & Training Awards, now in its fourth edition, were first launched in 2021 to recognise the teams and individuals whose efforts bring GWO standards to life across the global wind industry. These awards shine a light on exceptional training providers who deliver high-quality, safety-first instruction worldwide.
After being shortlisted in 2024, STL USA is proud to receive this recognition again in 2025—a testament to the team’s unwavering commitment to training excellence and continuous improvement.
What makes STL USA remarkable in 2024–25?
Over the past 12 months, STL USA has enhanced its global leadership through:
Comprehensive GWO Training Offerings: STL delivers the full suite of GWO courses—Basic Safety Training (BST), Basic Technical Training (BTT), Advanced Rescue Training (ART), Enhanced First Aid, CoHE & NFPA 70E, Lift & 3s CAS and many more—tailored to exceed industry standards and foster technician readiness across North America.
Innovative Onsite Training Model: With a mobile training unit and training directly on turbines, STL USA enables technicians to learn rescue scenarios in live settings—bridging the gap between theory and field-ready competency.
Leadership in Quality Standards: STL USA is one of only a handful U.S. providers authorised to deliver instructor qualification training under GWO. Its team actively contributes to updating standards—such as clarifying best practices for working at height, use of redundancies, and fall arrester systems—to align with both GWO and OSHA requirements.
Driving Industry-wide Improvement: Recognising challenges in North American adoption, STL USA has advocated for better alignment between GWO standards and local regulations. It has pushed for increased auditor training and greater clarity on regulations to ensure safety is always the central concern.
- Pioneering Use of Emerging Technology: STL USA continues to push the envelope by integrating cutting-edge tools into training delivery. Highlights include a Gearbox & Borescope overview course delivered in partnership with Evident Scientific, offering participants hands-on experience with the latest turbine inspection tools. STL USA has also launched ground-breaking virtual reality (VR) training experiences, allowing learners to safely engage in immersive, realistic turbine environments.
