STL USA Mobile trailer for Onsite Training

Why becoming an instructor is the smart move for techs

As the demand for renewable energy surges across the globe, the wind energy sector stands tall as one of the most dynamic and fast-growing industries. At the heart of this growth are wind turbine technicians—skilled professionals who keep the blades turning, literally powering our future. But for experienced wind techs looking for their next professional step, there’s a unique opportunity that combines your hands-on expertise with the chance to make a lasting impact: becoming an instructor at STL USA.

At STL USA, we’re proud to be shaping the future of wind energy through cutting-edge training and workforce development. We’re currently hiring passionate and qualified Lead Technical instructors who want to train and inspire the next generation of wind technicians. Whether you’ve spent years climbing towers or leading teams in the field, teaching with STL USA offers a way to stay close to the industry while elevating your career in exciting new ways.

The Growing Demand for Skilled Wind Technicians

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment of wind turbine technicians is projected to grow by 44% between 2021 and 2031—much faster than the average for all occupations. As turbines become more advanced and widespread, companies are in urgent need of qualified workers who can safely install, maintain, and repair these massive machines.

But technical skill alone isn’t enough. The industry also needs trainers—people with firsthand experience who can prepare workers for the challenges of the field with real-world insight, high safety standards, and practical expertise.

That’s where STL USA comes in—and where you come in.

Who We Are: STL USA’s Mission

STL USA is a premier energy workforce training provider focused on delivering job-ready skills across renewable energy, construction, and other high-demand sectors. With facilities equipped with full-size wind turbine nacelles, climbing towers, and state-of-the-art classrooms, our facilities are built to simulate real field conditions. Our training programs are hands-on, immersive, and industry-driven.

But what truly sets STL USA apart is our people—experienced professionals committed to excellence in safety, education, and leadership.

Why Make the Move to Instruction?

Becoming an instructor is not just a job change—it’s a career evolution. Here’s why more experienced wind technicians are making the shift:

1. Make a Tangible Difference

As an instructor, you have a direct hand in preparing the next wave of wind professionals. Every student who graduates your class carries your influence into the field—keeping themselves and others safe, maintaining turbines more effectively, and elevating the overall standards of the industry. If you’re passionate about leaving a legacy, this is your platform.

2. Give Back While Staying Engaged

You’ve spent years in the field and know the challenges of the job—now you can pass that hard-earned knowledge on. As an instructor, you’re still deeply connected to the technical work, the equipment, and the standards of the industry—just in a way that’s less physically demanding and more sustainable long-term.

3. A Better Work-Life Balance

Climbing turbines and traveling site-to-site is thrilling—but it can take a toll. An instructor role often comes with predictable hours, less travel, and a more stable work schedule, which means more time for family, hobbies, and personal wellness.

4. Professional Growth and Leadership Development

Instruction builds skills that are valuable in training management, curriculum development, operations, and corporate leadership. You’re not just teaching—you’re learning how to lead, mentor, and manage with effectiveness and empathy.

5. Join a Mission-Driven Team

At STL USA, you’re not alone. You’ll work alongside other passionate professionals who believe in safety, innovation, and the future of renewables. We offer mentorship, support, and opportunities to advance within the organization.
