wind tech training facilities STL USA
STL USA’s base in Abilene Texas puts us right in the heart of wind country. Training operations are split across two sites, safety and technical located in central Abilene.
Our HQ, and the safety site, offer dedicated training facilities for basic and advanced rescue courses.
The technical facility is home to GWO Basic Technical training, electrical safety, and a vast range of skills and competency training.
The STL USA team made a conscious decision to build an outdoor training tower. Deciding that the increased height and outdoor conditions provided a far more realistic training environment for technicians. Alongside this sit turbine mockups are housed in sea containers to mimic conditions inside the nacelle and blade. It’s a core aim of STL USA to provide the highest quality training and we believe creating a controlled environment as close to the real thing achieves this.
STL USA are constantly evolving teaching methods and the facilities that support the delivery of stand out training courses. With this in mind we have created a dedicated teaching lab for GWo advanced rescue training. The lab allows us to perform the theory, classroom elements, alongside the practical sessions easily transitioning between the two and allowing theory to be broken up with demonstrations to improve learning outcomes.
STL USA’s dedicated technical training facility incorpates a large technical workshop and three dedicated classrooms. STL USA works closely with partners such as Hytorc and Megger to ensure we have industry-leading facilities for technical training. The addition of major components allows us to offer a large range of courses focussed on building skills across the main areas of a trubine.
